RVing Nomads

This website, RVing Nomads, is about sharing experiences with those we have yet to meet! Dave and I left Maine in 2018 to explore the United States in our thirty-five-foot motorhome, “Winnie”. Our travel has taken us over 128,000 miles through all 48 contiguous states. It has been a wonderful adventure.

Travel opens your heart, broadens your mind, and fills your life with stories to tell.
– Paula Bendfeldt @https://growingupbilingual.com

Being immersed in the history of a geographic area opens your mind to the experiences of those who have come before. We like to say, “A good day traveling is a good day. A bad day traveling is a story.” We have both good days and stories to share!

RVing takes us to places of history interest like the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama.

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness. Many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.
– Mark Twain (1835-1910) in Innocents Abroad

This is so true! The more we have traveled, the more we have been pleasantly surprised by how people across the country are more alike than different. Perspectives may vary by region, but American values remain constant.

Better to see something once than hear about it a thousand times.
– Asian Proverb

Many places we visited were on our bucket list, inspired by stunning pictures by people like Ansel Adams. But seeing nature and historic places in person left us speechless. Who knew how small the Las Vegas sign is, or the huge expanse between the north and south rim of the Grand Canyon?

So much of who we are is where we have been.
– William Langewiesche (1955- )

There is a difference between seeing something in a picture and being able to touch the rock, sift the sand between your fingers, watch the bison running in herds, and seeing the place where battles were fought. We have been changed by what we have seen.

As soon as I saw you, I knew a grand adventure was about to happen.
– A. A. Milne (1882-1956) in Winnie the Pooh

Long before Dave and I met, individually we were curious, adventurous people who always took the path less traveled. With enthusiasm and excitement, we always wanted to celebrate what was around the next corner. From the moment we met, we knew we were destined to have a grand adventure.

This website is devoted to sharing what we have seen, learned, and experienced since becoming RVing Nomads. We hope you find it interesting, informative, amusing, and sometimes even thought-provoking. Best wishes to those who are curious about the world around them. Welcome!

In Memory Of:
We have not always been alone on our RV adventures. Three young pets came to live with us in the summer of 2009. Levi, our Anatolian Shepard, loved to travel with us and had many wonderful traveling adventures until his passing in 2018. Rusty, our white and orange cat, never traveled with us, but his natural curiosity would have made him a great traveler. He passed away a month before Levi. Lucky was lucky. He traveled with us for 6 years, 128,000 miles and all 48 contiguous states. He passed away in late summer 2024.
